Chicken Pot Pie

A meat recipe suitable for dinner, using the ovenbaking method.

Chicken pie with vegetables, good comfort food. By using pre made pastry the preparation drops considerably.

The ingredients »

  • 1 cup of potatoes, diced
  • 1 cup of chopped onions
  • 1 cup of celery, diced
  • 1 cup of chopped carrots
  • 1 cup of melted margarine
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 4 cups of chopped cooked chicken
  • 1 x puff pastry pie crusts

How to make »

  1. Saute onion, celery, carrots and potatoes in butter for 10 minutes. Add flour to sauteed mixture, stirring well and continue to cook for a couple of minutes stirring constantly.
  2. Gradually stir the broth into the vegetable mixture. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly.
  3. Stir in salt and pepper, add chicken, and stir well. Pour into a shallow suitable dish and top with pie crust.
  4. Make sure there are slits in the top and bake at 400F for 40-50 minutes or until pastry is golden brown and filling is bubbly and cooked through.
