A dessert recipe suitable for dessert, using the baking method.

One of the basic cakes there is yet it still holds it's own and is great for any dessert, especially good at children's birthday parties.

The ingredients »

  • 110 grams of caster sugar
  • 1 jar of strawberry jam
  • 2 x medium eggs
  • 110 grams of self raising flour
  • 1 cup of whipped cream
  • 110 grams of butter

How to make »

  1. Pre heat the oven to 180C and line two cake tins with grease proof paper.
  2. Mix the butter and sugar together and beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Break eggs in a separate bowl and beat them slightly.
  4. Add the eggs, a little at a time, to the other mixture, beating each batch in thoroughly untill you add the next.
  5. Sift the flour and then fold into the mixture.
  6. Divide the mixture between the cake tins and spread out with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until an inserted skewer comes out clean.
  8. Layer the top of one cake with the jam and cream and then sandwich the two together. Lightly dust the top with some icing sugar.
