Fish Pie

A fish recipe suitable for dinner, using the ovenbaking method.

Nothing tastes better than the full flavours that you get from fish. Top that with mashed potato and cheese and it's positively delightful!

The ingredients »

  • 450 grams of smoked haddock or cod, poached then cut into chunks
  • 400 grams of mashable potatoes
  • 50 grams of chedder cheese, grated
  • 1 x meduim onion
  • 30 grams of butter
  • 1 cup of fish stock
  • 2 tablespoons of soured cream
  • 2 x leeks

How to make »

  1. Cook the potatoes in boiling water untill softened. Then drain thoroughly and mash them, adding half the butter. Add seasoning to taste and leave to one side.
  2. Heat the other half of the butter over a low heat. Cook for a few minutes then add the fish stock and cream. After a couple of minutes add the chopped leeks and onion.
  3. Preheat the oven to 220C. Cut the fish into pieces and lay in the bottom of the dish. Add some seasoning and, if you have some, a sprinkle of lemon juice.
  4. Pour the hot sauce over the fish and then spoon the potato over everything, covering every piece. Sprinkle grated cheese all over the top, the more the better!
  5. Bake in the oven for 30-45 minutes untill the top is golden brown and the fish will have cooked through.
