Spaghetti Bolognese

This is traditional dish, you can use spaghetti or whichever type of pasta takes your fancy. Great to have with a fresh loaf of crusty bread!
The ingredients »
- 1 x onion, finely chopped
- 1 x carrot, finely chopped
- 1 x stick of celery, finely chopped
- 2 x cloves of garlic
- 1 tablespoon of tablespoon of tomato purée
- 2 x glasses of red wine
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 2 cans of chopped tomatoes
- 300 grams of lean minced beef (or pork)
- 500 grams of spaghetti pasta
- 3 x large mushrooms (optional)
How to make »
- Heat the oil in a saucepan and add the onion, garlic, celery and carrot. Fry for a couple of minutes until they begin to soften and juicify.
- Crank up the heat and add the minced beef. Fry until browned making sure you separate all the large chunks with a wooden spoon.
- Now add the wine, a couple of glasses for the recipe and a glass for yourself. If you wanted mushrooms add them now. Make sure the heat is up and let it bubble for a bit releasing all those juices. If it looks a little dry add some water or stock if available.

This can easily be made veggie by removing the meat and adding more vegetables! Whatever you like the best.. there is a world of possibilities!
